Environmental monitoring

Data loggers, thermohygrometers and monitoring systems for the pharmaceutical supply chain. Just the way you need it.

Ensure quality, maintain compliance and save resources

Temperature-sensitive products require special production and storage conditions. These are defined by corresponding regulatory and legal requirements, and compliance with them is mandatory.

But which measuring solution is ideal for measuring and documenting parameters such as temperature, humidity, pressure and shock?

You will find the answers here.

From thermohygrometer to monitoring system: The measurement methods available

Three methods have become established for monitoring quality-relevant environmental parameters, all of which have their individual advantages and disadvantages: Thermohygrometers, stand-alone data loggers and automated monitoring systems.

Min./max. thermometers / thermohygrometers: The inexpensive entry-level option

Thermohygrometers are an inexpensive and uncomplicated method of monitoring temperature and humidity. You can use them to measure temperature and humidity, without having to put much effort or expense into their installation or maintenance. Only the current ambient value of the two measurement parameters is calculated and shown on a (usually large) display. Measuring intervals of a thermohygrometer can be customized and, depending on the model, the instrument stores the measuring data of a time period of up to 90 days.

Data security vs. degree of automation: What you need to know

When monitoring quality-relevant environmental parameters, two rules of thumb apply:

  • The more measuring points to be monitored, the higher degree of automation you should be looking for in a measurement solution. The reason for this is simple: Potential errors that occur during manual measurement data recording and documentation are minimized.

  • The more stringent the regulatory requirements for documentation, evaluation and archiving of data, the more sensible it is to have a high degree of automation. The reason: An automated system takes care of the prescribed storage and documentation for you. Data integrity is also ensured: Automated solutions make tampering with the data virtually impossible.

Conclusion: Challenging measuring tasks with stringent data security requirements are best accomplished with an automated monitoring solution.
